Pedaling Minds Summer Camp | Boulder Nonprofit Photographer

This past summer, I had the privilege of volunteering with Pedaling Minds, capturing the energy and determination of kids learning to ride at their summer camp in Boulder. It was one of those classic hot-as-heck Colorado days where the sun was relentless, but that didn’t stop the kids (or the teachers) from showing up, pushing through, and having an absolute blast on two wheels.

Pedaling Minds is more than just a bike camp- it’s a confidence factory. They’re on a mission to help kids build confidence, coordination, and independence through cycling. With expert instructors guiding them, campers learned balance, bike handling, and road safety, all while having a blast. Whether it was a wobbly first attempt or a victory lap after mastering a new skill, every moment was filled with determination and joy.

And I have to give a special shoutout to Mike, the mastermind behind Pedaling Minds, who personally helped teach both of my kids how to ride a bike. The patience, the encouragement, the ability to keep kids focused while also keeping things fun—it’s some kind of superpower. Watching him work with the kids was proof of why this program is such a Boulder gem.

As a Boulder nonprofit photographer, I love documenting moments like these—where learning meets adventure and community comes together to support growth. Seeing the kids push past their fears, cheer each other on, and pedal toward success was nothing short of inspiring.
