“Birth photography is really intimate but, from the moment I met Jill, she instantly put me at ease. We will forever cherish the photos she captured of my daughter’s birth, which were absolutely gorgeous!! ”

FAQ

  • Why hire a birth photographer?

Birth is an intense journey and many powerful moments can slip away in a flash. With birth photography, families can preserve these tender and awe-inspiring memories: the ethereal feeling when a partner's hand touches your forehead with love; courageousness of exhausted willpower gritting through waves of contractions; and then that momentous first glance at you gleaming, precious newborn baby.

I am there to help tell your story- quietly, peacefully and unobtrusively. I am there to artfully highlight all the layers, the connections and little details so you have a powerful memory to look back on.

  • What is included in a Birth Story Session?

In-person consultation (or phone if you prefer) to meet and discuss your birth preferences, questions, etc.

My on-call time starting at 38 weeks up until delivery

Time at your birth from active labor until 1-2 hours after delivery

A full private online gallery of images (usually between 80-120) delivered within 30 days

A calm, peaceful, empathetic presence dedicated to documenting your story

  • Where do you work?

I am based in Louisville, Colorado and can document births in Boulder, Denver and surrounding areas. Every family is unique and I believe EVERY birth story is worth telling. I document hospital births, birth center births, home births…

  • What happens if you miss a birth?

I will do everything I can do be at your birth and I haven’t missed one yet! I have you and your support person on emergency bypass on my phone starting at 37 weeks so I hear that phone ring even if I’m sound asleep or at the movies. But, birth can be crazy and unpredictable. If I don’t make it to the birth, I will arrive as quickly afterwards as I can to still tell your story. We’ll capture all the little newborn details and those first sweet snuggles.

  • When do you arrive?

I aim to arrive during active labor. If your care provider is doing cervical checks, I’d love to be contacted when you reach 6cm. If that's not happening, then just let me know once contractions are strong and consistent. I’ll keep close communication, often with your support person, throughout all steps of labor.

  • Will my photos be shared online?

I fully understand and respect that there are families that desire privacy. I always take extra care during our consultations to make sure your wishes are honored every step of the way. No photo will ever be shared without getting your full permission beforehand.

Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers — strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.
